10 DAYS AND COUNTING

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!

TEAM UPDATES

The mighty 10 DAY COUNTDOWN now begins! The race is almost here!

LEG AND COURSE MAPS: The updated leg and overall course maps are now posted on the Wild Miles Relay website. I will be updating all maps and the overall team manuals (1 per driver, 1 for Stacy, 1 for me) and bringing them with me to the race. Stacy, do you think we need anymore manuals? For everyone, don't worry much about any great changes with the maps - the only updates (in general) have been further leg notes and a few minor route changes. Just thought you'd want to be aware.

JEFF WINDHORST: My emails to Jeff are being bumped back to me as "undeliverable" - Jeff, are you getting them? If not, can someone follow up with him and find out what's up with his jwindho100@aol.com account? Let me know what you find out.

CAPTAINS' MEETING: Stacy will be attending the Captains' Meeting on Saturday, April 21. Anyone wanting to attend the meeting with Stacy (as per his earlier email request), should contact Stacy. Stacy, here are some questions to raise at the meeting:

  • Since the legs have been changing in distance since the first sending out of the Team Worksheet, when do they need a final copy of that worksheet (with the new mileages)? When will we know our start time?
  • Be sure to ask the car safety questions we discussed?
  • Which of the specific legs will not allow the van to leapfrog the runners? Will there be any legs that will require or need a camelback?
  • Where is the official check-in?
  • Have there been any significant changes in the rules from last year that we should know about?
  • Where on the course will nightfall approximately begin? Are there any areas we need to be aware of while running at night?

VITAL INFORMATION LINKS

General information about the Wild Miles Relay from the official site

TEAM THROWN TOGETHER OFFICIAL WEBSITE

General information about our team; a good source to send family and friends to for information as well. There are links to general areas within this website at the bottom of each email sent out.

TEAM T4U SCHEDULE

This particular page will be updated as we get closer to the race. This will give you a much better idea of what will be occurring and when - a good webpage to share with your family and friends so they know where you are at and what you will be facing.

TEAM EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

This is a good source to be sure that you have everything you'll need for the WMR.

2007 WMR COURSE MAP AND LEG ASSIGNMENTS

Family and friends want to know where you're going to be running? Have you forgotten when you're running? A good point of reference and a couple of maps you might want to print out to refer to later while on the course.

NUTRITION, CHAFING AND BLISTERS, ETC.

Information posted in past emails pertaining to specific topics can be found on the Updates page of the T4U website.

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL EQUIPMENT CHECKIST

The time is getting close for you to begin reviewing the list of equipment/supplies needed for the Wild Miles Relay. Check out Equipment/Supplies for both the listing of the Team Equipment needed, as well as your individual equipment/supplies checklist. Don't wait until the last minute - start putting it all together!

Please note that I added athletic sandals/flip-flops to the list of individual equipment/supplies. It's very common for you to forget to let your feet breathe after you've completed your first run, as well your feet will swell during the day. A pair of sandals or athletic sandals will allow your feet to stretch out and also to breathe in between your runs. They don't take up much room, so consider throwing a pair in your backpack for the trip.

We still haven't heard from James, Drew, Todd, Jeff, Chuck, Housch or Caskey - let's hear from you soon! Respond to everyone on this email and send out your answers to these five simple questions:

1. What made you decide to run the Wild Miles Relay? And if you're returning, what made you want to return?

2. Tell us a little about you.

3. What motivates you as a runner?

4. What are some of your favorite hobbies?

5. What do you hope to get out of the Wild Miles Relay?

Peace and stay loose,

Lee
